ABOUT CARRIE
New york based
Cinematographer
I’m Carrie Stalk, a New York City based Cinematographer with over a twelve years of industry experience working across narrative film, commercials, and music videos. I grew up in the Northeast and attended Michigan State University for college. It was there I discovered my passion for the process of creation, taking ownership over a project from start to finish, and the joy of leading creative teams. This made filmmaking my natural creative path.
To me, story always comes first, and no two projects are alike in that. In everything I work on, whether it’s a narrative project or a commercial, I tailor the visual language, and work across departments to create the most authentic version of the idea. This has served many of my current and former clients, including global brands like Netflix, Audible, Louis Vuitton, Google, Vogue, Timberland, Sanpellegrino and Amazon Prime Video.
My award-winning narrative work as a director and cinematographer has been recognized nationally and internationally, receiving 4 festival awards, 4 nominations, and 21 official selections. Most recently, I served as Writer, Director, and Cinematographer on the LGBTQ+ film The Salt Between Us, and as Cinematographer on Project Blue Bucket and Goo, all currently making their festival runs.
Outside of filmmaking, I spend time at the rock climbing gym, meditating, or playing guitar. I also love exploring food and flavor through cooking and baking, keeping a detailed journal of what I eat and drink when I’m out. I’m currently pursuing my WSET sommelier certification.
