ABOUT CARRIE
New york based
creative director & Cinematographer
I’m Carrie Stalk, a New York-based creative with over a decade of experience as a Director and Cinematographer. I grew up in the Northeast and attended Michigan State University for college. It was there I discovered my passion for the process of creation, taking ownership over a project from start to finish, and the joy of leading creative teams. This made filmmaking my natural creative path.
To me, story always comes first, and no two projects are alike in that. In everything I work on, whether it’s a narrative project or a commercial, I tailor the visual language, and work across departments to create the most authentic version of the idea. Whether it’s using available light or having actors improv, all elements serve the story when the team is on the same page. This has served many of my current and former clients, including global brands like Netflix, Audible, Louis Vuitton, Google, Vogue, Timberland, Sanpellegrino and Amazon Prime Video.
My award-winning narrative work has been recognized nationally and internationally with multiple wins and nominations. The short film Cyclone was a winner at Katra Film Festival 2021 and a three time winner at Indie Short Fest 2020. I directed photography on the multi award nominated short film Green Juice. I am currently executing an Oscar qualifying festival strategy for my LGBTQ+ drama short film, The Salt Between Us, targeting major venues like Palm Springs, Rotterdam, TIFF, SXSW, and Cannes.
Outside of filmmaking, I spend time at the rock climbing gym, meditating, or playing guitar. I also love exploring food and flavor through cooking and baking, keeping a detailed journal of what I eat and drink when I’m out. I’m currently pursuing my WSET sommelier certification.
